Sending emails to old email address

I have set up all my current emails with bt and my previous flatmate is still receiving emails from them even though she’s been removed from the account. Could this be amended please?

This is a customer to customer self help forum.

Can you be more specific ( without posting any personal details) as to what your problem is. It is not at all clear from your post. Somebody may then be able to offer advice.

Re: Sending emails to old email address

All email communication that I should be getting from my bt account is going to an email address of someone that doesn’t even live at the address anymore. I’ve removed their email from my account and they’re still getting billing emails.

Was the the BT account set up in your name ?

Have you checked your MyBT to ensure that your BTID is  your email address?

Re: Sending emails to old email address

@Amyblain  Be aware that you can't simply transfer ownership of a BT account. The account would need to have been cancelled in one name and a new account taken out in another.

Re: Sending emails to old email address

Hi @Amyblain,

The account would still be in the name of your ex flatmate. You would have been added to it solely as a contact.

As @licquorice has stated, you cannot take over the account that belongs to someone else who has moved out. You would need to place an order to take over the service in your name.

Your previous flatmate would be liable to pay any bill that's produced. Also, if you took over the service, your ex flatmate could potentially have charges for ceasing their contract early.

Thanks

Hi,

Is there a number I can call to fix this?

Thanks,

Re: Sending emails to old email address

If the account is not in your name the only fix is to order a new broadband account in your name.

This will start a new contract and as has been pointed out may result in cancellation fees for the previous account holder.
