Hi,
I have an email saying to redeem my xbox game pass ultimate subscription but i have no way of doing this due to an old account and need help removing the old account, or BT could put a button to say MAKE THIS MY MAIN ACCOUNT on the drop down menu.
I can see the account which has the broadband but it always defaults back to an old account.

try contacting the billing team using 'message us' and they should be able to help https://www.bt.com/help/contact-bt/account-and-billing/broadband
We got through yesterday, but they had no clue. They kept saying we'll get someone to get you a code and just ignored the main part of the query.
I just need my BB account to be the main account, honestly can't believe there's not an option somewhere just to "make this my main account".

For the Xbox Game Pass, they would have sent a webform to the relevant team, and you'll hear back on that within 7 working days. If you don't hear anything at that point, please let us know.
For your online account, if an old account needs to be removed, it would need to be something that is handled by our customer service guides. The best thing I can suggest would be to get in touch again and let them know that you need to remove the old account from your MyBT access and they'll take a look at the account settings.
