Is there a cancellation fee on my phone & broadband if I switch to another supplier? Also, do I lose my BT email address?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Depends if you are within a minimum term or not ( ‘in contract’ or ‘out of contract’ ) and if you ( or them ) serve the appropriate notice regarding your decision to leave , your BT email remains available but becomes very basic in that you have to log on to it via a browser session to read/send emails, you can’t use email clients any longer that make reading and sending emails ‘simple’ .
If you intend to switch ISP’s regularly, you’d be better going with a mail provider independent of the ISP anyway, such as Outlook/Hotmail or Gmail etc.
@chrisjp Yes, that’s true, I suppose.
It’s an evolutionary thing. Like most of my generation I went through Freeserve, Wanadoo, Orange, etc. By the time I got to BT I’d already decided I was sick of having to set up a new email every five minutes, but life was simpler back then.
I’ve been with Hotmail for my main email now since the year 2000. Never had any problems and doesn’t cost me a penny.
