Greetings to everyone, I would like to ask for your support on something. I ordered BT broadband on October 21, 2023. Smart Hub was delivered and the planned activation date was 30 October. However, the activation process has still not been completed. The even more interesting part is that there was no openreach connection box that should be outside the house. I could not find any results from my correspondence with BT. The house I ordered is a new property. However, what is even more strange to me is that in some newly built houses around me, I see that the openreach connection box has been installed even though the house is empty.
What path should I follow? Do I need to call openreach engineers or people who will make the connection? Or they will perform the installation on a date according to their own calendar.
If the second image is of the inside of the property, ( with the ONT fitted , powered up , optical cable plugged up but the LOS light lit ) yet the exterior work isn’t completed ( the grey duct entrance is visible but no duct cover , no capping , no CSP ) with the internal optical cable left ‘poked’ out through the wall , means Openreach have work to do, the issue is did they forget to do it , or they haven’t been told the house is ready.
I suspect that your internal installation was what’s called DSI , ‘developer self install’ , so the developer installs the ONT ( they don’t always plug the cable in ) , the developer also ( not part of DSI , but part of ‘newsites’ ) runs the Openreach supplied cable from the ONT location to the external wall , leaving it ready for Openreach bring the plot into service, in these cases the OR tech doesn’t fit the ONT ( because it was done as DSI ) but they need access to it , to get it authenticated on the system.
Your situation is either the developer hasn’t ‘called off’ the plot with Openreach, so OR don’t know the house is ready for occupation ( or in this case you have actually moved in ) FYI , the developer normally calls the plot off ( advises Openreach ) a week or so before your occupation , or the developer has advised the Openreach FBC of the house being ready ( FBC , field based coordinator) but the FBC hasn’t arranged the completion of the work with the OR new-sites engineers or they haven’t attended in time.
If this call off process isn’t done correctly, the address should never appear on ordering portals , so you shouldn’t be able to actually order FTTP , so how did the BT hub ever get delivered ?.
The solution is for your developer contact ( site manager or whoever) to get the Openreach FBC ( someone they work closely with ) to come back to sort this out .
