My BT cloud app just auto updated and broke on both my systems.
On Windows 10 I had to uninstall and reinstall it to get it to work.
On Windows 7 I just fails, won't uninstall and if I try to reinstall I just get a message that says:
api-ms-win-core-winrt-1-1.0.dll is missing. I have the C++ runtime libraries installed so not sure what is broken.
Looks like another unwanted update for which I was given no warning or option has broken my system ...... not for the first time BT.
My Windows 11 laptop auto-updated BT Cloud earlier after I had switched it on. Powered my Windows 10 Laptop on and it did the same. Now have 22.12.11 on both. I only use sync but have created files on both and they have successfully been synced to both laptops and the cloud. Everything seems o,k, here.
Windows 10 laptop :- Windows 10 Pro 22H2 19045.2728. Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium 5.06.53 .

Ok, just tried to install the latest version of BT Cloud, 22.12.11 on a fresh install (Virtual machine) of Windows 7 and it also fails. Has BT dropped Windows 7 support for the BT Cloud client?
Brilliant!! So BT Cloud software auto updated to version that isn't compatible with the underlying operating system. Thank you BT.
Sorry to whinge, but they really need to scrap that piece of software and replace it with a functional rebranded app like Dropbox or GDrive. I use those services regularly and they just work.
The cloud app seems to break continually.
At best, I have to delete and reinstall it on my iphone when it stops working and at worst, I have to wait for an IOS update or app update to resolve its continual issues.
I have had exactly the same problem. BT are law unto themselves!
Is there a way of getting an older version?
Exactly the same here - my weekly Backup stargted, but the BTC terminated & wonty restyart - didnt see a notification that twas being updated ....

It seems that every time there is a software update, there is a good chance that the update will not work straight away on everyone's system. This has been true of update 22.12.11 which automatically updated this April for mne. BT Cloud them quickly crashed, saying that there was an "unexpected error" and that, "the application cannot continue and will be paused". Any attempt to un-pause, gets a repeat of the same message. I am running W10 on a Samsung laptop. I don't know if my method would work for W7 though.
Following previous problems, I first tried uninstalling the new software, clearing the registry using CCleaner, and then reinstalling it. This did not work this time.
1) I made a note of all folders being backed up -
2) I then uninstalled BT Cloud.
3) I moved the hidden BT folders which were still there to the desktop from the AppData folder. They seem to be the ones causing the confusion for the new software.
4) I did a search for any remaining BT Cloud program or data files in my laptop which might be causing the problem and found no more.
5) I used Ccleaner to clean the register. There was some stuff left over from uninstalling BT Cloud which was removed.
6) I then reinstalled BT Cloud 22.12.11.
7) This now entailed setting up things from the start again, as though BT Cloud had never been in my laptop. Hence the importance of making a note in point 1.
😎 The new BT Cloud software then behaved properly, did not crash, found what new files needed backing up to the Cloud and got on with the job. I notice new AppData folders have been created to replace the old ones I moved to the desktop, and it looks as though I will be able to delete those old ones if everything continues to run properly.
So, I appears to me that the BT Cloud software engineers do not pay enough attention to ensuring that old data from the last version of their software will never cause a problem for the new version, and ensuring that this cannot happen.
