Every time I open Google Chrome there is a pop up reminding me to install Norton Safe Search. However, it is already installed and if I click on the link the next page confirms that. So why does the pop up keep appearing? I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but it still will not go away.
Hi @Alan_in_Hemel,
There are a some posts on the Norton forum I have found, is this the same message you are getting?
NORTON 360 Generates incorrect Alert for browser extension - Norton 360 for Windows - Norton
If so it looks like the notification is not related to whether or not you have the Safe Search extension installed, but is letting you know the recent change that moving forward only Safe Search search engine will show Safe Web ratings in the results.
If that is the same one it would suggest that the notification is constant at the moment due to it being a recent change by Norton and so should stop after awhile.
You could disable their notifications within Chrome in the meantime if you wanted Use notifications to get alerts - Computer - Google Chrome Help

Thanks for the reply the problem is now better understood. I have amended the notifications in Norton so that pop-ups do not appear in Chrome. I will see if this fixes it.
I am sorry to hear that @Alan_in_Hemel you mentioned disabling the notifications in Norton, just to be clear did you disable them within Chrome itself as well? Is it stopped if blocking all notifications within Chrome?
Alex
Yes that has sorted it but of course now I will not receive any notifications, even ones I might have wanted. All to get rid of an annoying Norton feature.
After a reboot it came back again, will nothing kill this pop-up?
