The simplest way to remove any widget from an Android screen is: Press and hold down on the widget you want to remove until the menu that allows you to remove it appears.  This is an Android feature, and cannot be overridden by the widget!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!

Hi Leanne, thanks for getting back to me. It is a Moto android and I am referring to the sliding widget hugging the side of the screen

Senior moment.  Sorry I now realise the advice was to enter the phone settings not BT virus protect settings, so all good. Sorry for the confusion
