BT TV or EETV

Good evening

I have heard off a friend of a friend who supposedly knows someone from BT that BT TV is being rebranded as EETV. Also all new residential customers will no longer be able to purchase BT services and only EE broadband and TV.

They have also said that the YouView BT pro box will be discontinued in favour of EE branded Apple TVs with no recording facilities and is basically just a streaming device.

Wondering if this is simply hearsay or maybe a grain of truth lies there somewhere.

@jas20001978  worth looking at other threads

Some mixed stories there, but I can 100% confirm that the BT TV Box Pro is NOT being discontinued. It is still being actively developed, with new (frequently requested) stuff coming soon.

Re: BT TV or EETV

Personally I think it will be down to customers preference, the Pro box is the flagship BTTV box which allows recordings and freeview, the EE branded Apple TV will be streaming only, different features for different customer needs.

Typically BT customers are an older age bracket (myself included), EE customers are younger, it makes sense to cater to all.

Re: BT TV or EETV

There is a tv provider section on apple boxes that links to your tv provider i.e to watch shows and movies from the provider.  Im taking it ee will be the first provider in the uk to use this .
