Returning equipment?

Go to solution

Hi all,

I know this has been asked several times and hate to add to that but it still seems unclear based on circumstances.

Recently I re-contracted my broadband and cancelled my BT TV service. As a result I was sent a Smart Hub 2 and asked to send back my TV box and old hub.

In preparation for sending back the TV box I bought a Manhattan T3-R Freeview recorder to find it had lip sync issues. So wondered about maybe just keeping the BT box to record and watch the free channels.

I’ve had the box since 2017 so will I be able to keep the box with no charge?

As my service doesn’t end until the 28th the below image shows as part of an open order showing no charge for failure to return. Is this correct or an error?

Thanks

@jamiemat

As you had the box prior to 13/12/2019 then the box is yours to keep.

This is the link that defines the rules.

BT are obliged to offer a recycling process and as you see there is no charge for failure to return.

Hi @jamiemat, the information in the post from @TimCurtis  is correct.

Cheers

Many thanks to both @TimCurtis  and @JohnC2 for the help. It’s very much appreciated!

That’s great news I can keep the box without charge, will allow me to keep using it and save money on a replacement.

Thanks again
