when I choose to record a series using my BT box, is there any way to stop it recording every time the show is repeated again? It is so annoying!
This all seems to have been messed up with the latest release, even if I choose to record a series starting next weekend, any repeats of previous shows shown until then get recorded as well, so you cannot even schedule a recording a week in advance without recording a whole lot of useless clutter.
And whilst on the same subject, if one of the programs in the series clashes with another show and I choose to skip one show in the series, it cancels the entire series.
Recording a series should be a good thing, but it has been implemented so badly it is hopeless 😞
If you are talking about programmes on BT's own channels rather than Freeview channels then yes they so not make proper use of Series Link identifiers to properly group programmes and have them record only once. As evidenced by the ongoing MotoGP fiasco.
If you are talking about Freeview channels then that is down to the broadcaster concerned (BBC, ITV etc) to allocate Series Link identifiers correctly.
It is not a problem with the Youview box system. It is a problem with the BT Central processes (automated and / or manual) to allocate and control Series Links.
For MotoGP what I do now is set the Series Link on Thursday evening and delete is again on Sunday evening.
Hopefully when the TNT rebrand happens and the BT Sport app content is absorbed into the Discovery+ app then the MotoGP sessions will be chase-playable and be available for catch up in very short order as is currently the case for their Superbike coverage. The need to record the coverage would then not be needed.
