I've just moved to EE. My standard BT email has been downgraded to basic. Apparently my BT email should have been transferred to my EE account. Is this right .

Your email should not have been downgraded to BTMail Basic. It stays as a Standard @btinternet account.

You should call BT 0330.1234.150 and report it and have it reinstated to a Standard account.
