I have just purchased a new laptop and installed windows 10. In have previously been using windows 7
However I am now unable to open email attachments > i get an error message stating that word experienced an error trying to open the file , check the file permissions for the document or drive.
How do I do this and is there a setting in BT Mail that I need to change?
Do you have Microsoft Word installed on your new laptop?
How are you accessing your email account, is it with an email client/app or on a web browser?
Hi @Targa welcome to the BT community forums, that's not a BT email error message. I've googled it and it's a Word error. The Microsoft support community's solution is to right-click on the file and select properties. Next click unblock.
I hope that helps?
Thanks
Neil
Yes I have Microsoft word installed and I view my email on BT website
When you click on the attachment you have to be aware what part you are clicking on.
If you click the attachment Icon it will give a preview of a Word document in the PDF format and show in a new preview box. It will not open as a Word document.
If you click on the down arrow to the right of the attachment Icon the attachment will download to your download folder where you can then open it in the same way as you open any Word document.
I have tried clicking on the icon and on the down arrow, neither open the file, and do not download the file to my C drive
Have you tried the suggestion in message 3?
What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser?
