How long in Spam folder?

As advised, I move any Spam emails into the Spam folder where, I am told, the Spam filter will "learn" that that email is Spam.

My question is; How long must the Spam email remain in the Spam folder for the filter to "learn" that it is Spam?

If it has been marked as spam that is job done and I would just empty the spam folder when ever you want.

@gg30340  I haven't had any spam for many a month. Just in case, is dragging and dropping a spam email from the in-box to the spam folder the same as "Marking" an email as spam?
