Old email

Is there a time limit on the retention of email.

I have folders in my email history which are now empty.

Does old mail fall of a cliff?

If you use the email account on a regular basis there is no limit to the retention time or amount of emails you can store.

i do use the mail system every day, although not into every folder I’ve created.

i have many folders,  say HOLIDAYS   sub folder  YEAR  

It seems any subfolder for YEAR older than 2009  does not contain any of the mail I stored there.

Any ideas?
