Re: BT Email account and Outlook client

The fix used here, to delete all accounts and re-enter them, is something I am finding I have to do about once a month.
This is clearly ridiculous.  Outlook takes an age to fully sync to theire server before making my BT Email account and its many folders of emails, available to me in NEW outlook.   THis product continues to be the worst rollout I've ever witnessed.   We have zero choice. PST's are read only.  I've iused outlook for maybe 25+years.
But the design of this product, which COPIES all my BT emails over to the MS CLoud somewhere, before making them visible to me, is nuts.   Not allowing me to decide where to store my emails.
And now you insist on me deleting my accounts almost monthly just to get the email working at all?

It beggars belief.

and the new SETTING THINGS UP screen is nuts when the account its setting up (my live.com) is already there and simply needs moving to primary because you've forced me to delete me primary to then set it up again.
NUTS

The 'new Outlook' is a totally different product to the Outlook in the Office suite. It is dire.

Stop using it and use a different client such as Thunderbird.

Re: BT Email account and Outlook client

Hi Tony, I'd really like to know what advice specifically you got from BT/EE Tech support. I have had two long online 'chats' in the last 48 hours to tackle pretty much the same issue, but with no success at all.  They did not advise me to delete the email accounts from my iphone or ipad.

They stopped working on my Mac Outlook client after I changed passwords. I can still access the BT email addresses fine directly, and they are still working with the new passwords accepted on the iphone and ipad, but refuse all attempts to reinstate them on Outlook on my Mac.

I am loathe to delete them from my iphone and ipad as I use the email via the phone a lot and am concerned it will not be able to be reinstated either.

I have been confirmed that my email account is still 'standard', not downgraded to Basic. I have read all the previous posts but am not inclined to disconnect my router, nor to set up a second Outlook profile.

Oh dear, switching away from Outlook is not something I'm keen to do. I have 23 years of correspondence (selected items only) filed in Outlook, offline on my Mac. I access and update that archive frequently.

Re: BT Email account and Outlook client

Just tried to add my main BT email address to Apple mail on the Mac - but that failed too. Also Apple mail no longer recognises my secondary BT email address which was already set up in Apple Mail on the Mac.

Looks to me like the issue is not just with Outlook, but the failure of BT email now to connect to various client apps.

You can still use Outlook to access your archive alongside Thunderbird.

Thanks - I'm looking into installing it.
