When i login to my mail account i sometimes get a message say my "rules have been changed etc . . . . ." and sometimes I don't get a message but suspect there is a problem with the rules, due to increased spam email.
When i look at the rules they have been disabled, not by me.
What would cause the rules to be turned off ?

Your account being hacked.
Have any rules been set up?
Sorry, I meant have any forwarding rules been set up that you have not created.
The warning is there to tell you the rules have been set up or changed. If you have not changed them or set them up it means your account has been hacked
You need to check no forwarding has been set up then delete the rules that have been set up or changed then change your account password.
You should also let your contacts know you have been hacked and that they should be carefull with any emails they may get from your account.
You should also let banks etc know just in case the hacker manages to get into those accounts.
If you have just set them up or modified them you will receive the yellow warning which will show when you log onto your account for the next few days. It can not be turned off but will automatically turn off after a set number of days.
Did you check if there was any "Forwarding" set up?
