I have recently had a FTTP installation which included a Smart Hub 2 and a Yealink Dect IP phone.
I want to add a non-voip phone but the telephone socket on the back of the is covered with a sticker that says "Not for use"
My question is can I in fact use that socket or not not?
Ultimately I want to be able to connect my alarm system, which has a dialer that calls my mobile if the house alarm is activated.
Thanks for any advice offered.
Milt.

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.
Are you a BT Business user, as they use those Yealink Phones?
If you are, then the socket on the BT Business Smart Hub cannot be used, as the IP phones work to Cloud Voice.
You would have to use a different alarm system. (Mobile Network based).
Hi Keith
Thank you for your post. Yes, I am a BT business user. I don't really want a new alarm system.
What about using a ATA box? Would that be a possible solution?
Milt
You would need to speak to BT Business as this forum is for BT Residential customers
BT Business VoIP services are implemented differently to thier consumer's product
See https://business.forums.bt.com/
Also as I'm assuming you are a business I would also check your insurance details as they may specify an alarm need to have a backup mechanism to communicate to an Alarm monitoring company, e.g using the mobile network as a backup
