BT Premium phone, call blocking and 1571
I have just switched to Smart Hub2, digital voice and the three lack Premium phones. I want to continue with the 1571 service, nuisance call blocking and not use the answerphone built into the premium phone base unit. The instruction book talks about ‘not being advisable’ to use 1571 but in the context of using the built in answerphone.
Is there any reason why I cannot use 1571 and call blocking?

1571 is free with DV

Re: BT Premium phone, call blocking and 1571
Page 22 of the Premium instruction book advises not using call blocking with 1571.
I need to understand why.

Re: BT Premium phone, call blocking and 1571
I think it's just clumsily saying that you need to wholly use one system or the other. You either use the base station for answerphone AND call blocking or you use the DV versions for both. You can't mix & match.
I don't have DV but you may find that the blocking on the base station is more comprehensive than the DV version.

Re: BT Premium phone, call blocking and 1571
You may be right, but I hope not! My hub is in a room we do not use, connected to the Smart Hub2, hence not wanting to use the hub based answerphone.
The call blocking seems 100% effective as only those calls you accept get through whereas I am sure the DV facilities will not match this.
I hope someone from BT will respond.

Re: BT Premium phone, call blocking and 1571
I suppose that could work as long as you remember that you'd have two answerphones in operation that you need to check. 1571 for for calls you miss & the base station for calls that are diverted by call filtering.

Re: BT Premium phone, call blocking and 1571
Thanks.
My idea was just to leave the base answerphone off. The lack of any response from BT means I will just have to try it and hope.
