BT order with two phone line household

Hi,

I've just placed an order for BT Fibre Broadband, and just wanted to check if there was a way to ensure the correct telephone line is switched over?

Thanks!

Re: BT order with two phone line household

Are you existing BT customer or moving from another ISP?

Re: BT order with two phone line household

Hi imjolly,

I'm moving from a different ISP, both of the lines are with different ISPs too.

I only want one of the lines to be switched over.

Re: BT order with two phone line household

You should have placed an order with  BT for broadband with phone and got then to take over your existing line and port the number. You would be moving to digital voice using the BT SH2  and VOIP

I see, I placed the order for broadband only but put in the phone number as requested, could that cause issues?

Re: BT order with two phone line household

If you have 2 existing lines , with different providers ( say for arguments sake , Sky and Talk Talk , which both happen to be LLU /MPF , so the Sky and TT phone numbers are not provided as WLR ) and you want the TT line to be the one migrated to BT , obviously using the TT phone number may or may not be of any help in identifying the line to BT , but when the losing company gets notified that there is an order to migrate, they send a communication to the end user ( you ) effectively saying ‘ you are leaving , is that correct ?, if it isn’t contact us ‘ ( it’s an anti slamming measure ) , if you get this message from TT you know the correct line was selected and is going to move to BT , if you get the message from Sky you know the ‘wrong’ line has been selected and would need to cancel and start again

Re: BT order with two phone line household

if you have selected broadband only then you cannot just add your phone to your new contract.  broadband and phone will need to be a new contract and your existing broadband only contract cancelled.  you need to phone CS 03301234150 and get some help

Re: BT order with two phone line household

My take on the OP , isn’t that they now want to add a phone service to their  newly ordered BT broadband service ( broadband only ) simply that they want to ensure that the correct one of the two lines they have , is migrated  , presumably at the moment they feel it’s only a 50/50 chance that the correct line will be moved to BT , if they entered a phone number it may well switch the order from broadband only to line and broadband, but presumably the confirmation email would state if it’s standalone broadband or line and broadband they have ordered.
