I would like to be able to bar phone calls from one particular nuisance caller to my home landline. But as far as I can see, this is not possible. All I can do is bar ALL incoming calls, which I am reluctant to do. Have I understood the position correctly? I would be most grateful for advice.

Do you mean block a number because BT refer to call barring is used when you want to stop calls being made from your phone albeit it can be used to block all incoming calls as you have said.

See link about blocking calls.

Thanks for this clarification. But there seems to be a complication, arising from my recent switch to an EE TV and Broadband package. So now, when I log in to MyBT, I get the message that my home landline is inactive. Which it is most certainly not. But that stops me from going any further with setting up Call Protect.
So can you help with this, please?
as you have moved to EE then you need to try EE community forum https://community.ee.co.uk/
OK, will do. Thanks for your help.
