I don’t have a phone  like that but can see there aren’t buttons  labelled switch or reject , so I would imagine the screen display shows the call waiting options when a second call arrives, and as per the user guide you select the option you want..you obviously are in a better position to check , make two calls to your landline number and check the information screen

It does indeed show on the screen when a second call comes in for the Essential phone.
