We have just had Digital Voice. Our old landline broke and we have replaced it with a Decor2200corded phone. We need to handsets around our large old house, but Curry’s says their BT ones won’t work. I can’t find anywhere on BT to find out. They didn’t provide a handset with D V, should they have done? What can we buy that works?
BT no longer supply free DV handsets, but you can buy them. Either from the EE store or possibly cheaper from the likes of Facebook Marketplace.
Any wired or DECT set, BT or otherwise, will work with the base station. Either plugged into the back of the SH2 or paired with a DV adapter. Not sure if they still are, but BT were providing a code to order one FOC. There may be details in the FAQ above or someone else will chime in with recent experience.
You can plug the Decor2200 into the socket at the back of the Smart Hub 2.
If you need another wired phone connected, then you can ask BT for a free BT Digital Voice Adapter.

BT no longer supply free digital phones, so you are better off getting your own digital phone system, and plugging the base unit into the Smart Hub 2.
The BT4600 is a good system, with Call Guardian to intercept unwanted calls.
A regular corded landline phone does work with Digital Voice , either by plugging it into the phone port on the SH2 router ,or via a DV adapter , if the person in Curry’s said ordinary corded phones don’t work with BT Digital Voice , they are wrong , they do .
Thank you very much. We are very non-technical,being in our eighties . An EE engineer came to pronounce our old phone dead. He is sending us an adaptor for our new phone. We have 2 cordless handsets in parts of the house to ensure we hear calls from the landline, but neither of them now work.
We saw several pairs of BT phones in Curry’s but they wouldn’t sell us any. Our local EE store also said we had to check with BT. The EE engineer said we could buy any replacements . We are confused.
Plug the base for the cordless phones into the back of the Hub. Then when the DVA arrives, pair that with the Hub & plug the Decor into that.
That looks really straightforward, especially if grandchildren can help! Do you think the BT 4600 as recommended will work? We were hoping to get a pair with one base to plug in, if that makes sense. The main thing is that they are compatible with DV. We are afraid of getting something that turns out not to work. Apologies for seemingly dim questions. We will give all you helpful people a rest then!
Any phone is compatible with DV if it's plugged into the Hub or a DVA.
What cordless phones do you have currently?
If you already have cordless phones, then they should work, with the base unit plugged into the phone socket on the home hub once DV is activated.
