Digital Voice Answer Service

Today we have been switched over from the old analogue service to Digital Voice.  Problem is our Panasonic answer machine and its associated handsets do not now take messages when people ring us and we are unavailable to answer.  Apparently, so we are told, when people ring and we don't answer it just appears to ring and ring and ring.

Question is: how do we get onto the new answer service or is there a way we can make our Panasonic base unit work?

Re: Digital Voice Answer Service

Simply plug your base unit into the green socket at the rear of the hub. Make sure the number of rings before answering is fewer for the answering machine than the 1571 answering service.

Re: Digital Voice Answer Service

Thanks for the suggestion. The base unit is already plugged in as you describe. I've also tried to access my services on the BT website so as to check the 1571 service but it is saying the service is unavailable at the moment. Therefore, I don't know how long the number of rings is before the BT 1571 service kicks in.

Re: Digital Voice Answer Service

The BT 1571 answering service is enabled by default with Digital Voice therefore, if using an answering machine, 1571 should be set to maximum number of rings and the answering machine to a fewer number to allow the answering machine to cut in before 1571 takes the call.

Re: Digital Voice Answer Service

Thanks for your input. At the moment I can't seem to access 'your products' as it is saying they can't access my account and to try later. Once I can get into the system I'm assuming I will be able to extend the number of DV rings so as to be longer than my answer machine.

Re: Digital Voice Answer Service

I've got 1571 set to Medium (7 rings - 20 seconds) then Call Divert kicks in and transfers calls to my EE Mobile and I can usually take the call.  If I'm driving or cannot take a call I can check for any message left for me on my EE Voicemail even before I get home 🙂

Re: Digital Voice Answer Service

Have you tried accessing the 1571 service from the MyBT app instead of the website (your products - Digital Voice - Voicemail Essentials)

I'm in the rare breed category whereby I don't possess a smart phone. My channel to the world is only via the web site and my desk top computer.

@MrChristopher

Call 1571 on your phone & take option 4 to set your ringing period.
