Digital Voice setup issue?

I am still using the copper wire and I understand it will be switched off soon but I have a question about Digital Voice. I hope someone can help.

My current arrangement is this: I have a copper wire which is connected to the phone in the hall. There is also a branch which goes to my PC in the upstairs spare room. There is no electrical socket in the hall (where I want to keep the phone). I don't want to keep anything switched on permanently anywhere other than the living room in which there is a skybox powered up constantly. I don't want my phone in the living room and naturally I want to connect my PC to the internet.

Is it the case that I will have to have a box switched on permanently wherever I want my phone?

How can I link my PC to the internet if I it has no bluetooth but wires only? Will I have to run an ethernet cable all the way downstairs?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Digital Voice setup issue?

You are conflating the move to Digital Voice and the move to full fibre.

They are 2 entirely different things.

If you move to Digital Voice the only thing that changes is where you plug your phone in, or if you purchase DV handsets, they can be used anywhere as they connect to the hub via DECT.

PCs never connect to the internet via Bluetooth, it is either via WiFi or Ethernet. If your connection remains as copper, your PC will connect as it does now, nothing changes.

Copper is not being discontinued,  it the analogue PSTN network that is closing down.
