Digital voice

Go to solution

Bt is going to introduce digital voice service to my area sometime soon.

but i have a few queries regarding this.

i still have bt copper cables to house will bt replace them with fibre cables to house.

master socket is under stairs next to a gas meter, Will bt move that to a safer area like into the living room when they come ro do cables.

we have a bt line but have sky broadband. Will i have to cancel sky broadband and get bt broadband to use digital voice.

how much will it cost for this service like rental and call costs.

and will they set it up for us as we are a disabled household

@Stevekill2

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

If you have Sky broadband, then it will be provided over an Openreach copper pair of wires, so its not a BT Retail line as such, although people do get confused. Its an LLU (unbundled) connection.

Sky will contact you when your phone line is to be moved over to their own VOIP (Voice Over IP) network, which has nothing to do with BT Digital Voice.

If you have any concerns, you need to contact Sky, or better still, post on their user forum.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/about-internet-calls

This has nothing to do with fibre connections, as broadband will still be copper.

Re: Digital voice

It's Openreach that maintains the physical line between your property and the local exchange.

As a Sky customer they use Openreach 's infrastructure. As your provider is Sky they provide your their broadband and home phone service.

Sky have their own internet based phone service like BT's digital voice - https://www.sky.com/help/articles/about-internet-calls

If you have questions around Sky's own phone service you'll be best contacting Sky.

If your wondering about Openreach upgrading your area to Full fibre then have a look at: https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/ultrafast-full-fibre-broadband
