I bought a house last year and am now getting round to wanting a phone line to have broadband.
The problem is that the previous occupants - for a reason best known to themselves - cut the wire inside the house between the oval-shaped connection box and the phone socket on the wall. This needs repair, and probably a new socket as well. Is this something BT can do/has to do?
Also, I have no idea what the phone number is here. Is there any way of finding that out?
There is absolutely no need to know the old number at the property.
Just place an order with your chosen supplier ( I presume BT as you are posting on a BT forum) and whatever is necessary will be done by Openreach to supply service.
Many thanks for your reply. I've just moved back to the UK from living in France for quite a few years so was getting confused between BT & Openreach.
