EE Essential Home Phone Amplify setting

Hi All,

My 75yo Mum got moved to digital voice today, all seems to have gone well. She is hard of hearing and uses the amplify button on her current BT cordless phone. I though that she might benefit from the HD calling on one of the new DV handsets and was pleased to see they also have an amplify setting according to the online manual. However, after setting this up tonight, I can't get amplify to work. According to the online manual, you keep pressing volume + while on a call until it says amplify. But the phone screen never goes past level 5. 

I was wondering if anyone else has this handset (the ee/bt essential home phone) if they can get it to work? The phone is on the latest software. I've also setup a phone adapter so she can continue to use her current phones too. (not close enough to router to plug in the back).

Good morning @Graham81.

I've just had a test of this on my own handset and it definitely switches over to Amplify if I press past 5, but it does take a few presses as the first press displays the current setting, then the second press increases the setting. 

The display should change to the red Amplify icon, but if this isn't activating it could be restarting the device by removing the batteries for over a minute and then reinserting.

thanks very much. I’ll try restarting the phone as it definitely doesn’t go above 5. No matter how many times I press or press and hold the vol + button. 

you mention a red icon. The screen on this phone is black and white, I wonder if I have a different model.

Can you take post a photo of the phone handset, or the label on the back? We can then check the exact model you have.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve restarted the phone and tried removing and reinserting the batteries and amplify is still not available.

Yes, thats the bit I'm stuck at. As you point out, it says to keep pressing it, but it never goes past level 5. I've tried several times. Makes no difference if I press it 5,10 times. It stays at 5. Pressing and holding has no effect either.

I was hoping someone with the same model could confirm if they are able to access the settings.
