Elderly parents reporting landline fault

Go to solution
  • Help! How can I report a landline fault for my very elderly parents? Phone is dead their ends and rings out when I call. I was arguing with a bot last night and just don't know how to speak to a person to report this. Any help would be much appreciated, I need to get this reported today,  they're in their 90s and vulnerable.

Do they have BT broadband, if they do are you sure they haven’t been migrated to Digital Voice in which case they need to plug their  phone into the router phone socket and not into the telephone socket on the wall, they should have received notification if that is the case ….if it’s not then perseverance until you get to speak to a human , unfortunately the Mods on here seemingly can’t directly intervene and take a report ,

Thanks for your reply... I'm 200 miles away and can't get round there to check this.  They do have broadband but they wouldn't be able to do what you suggested. Any suggestions as to what phone number would get me through to a person?

Hi @janpinnell22

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear that your parents are having a problem with their phone. There are a few contact options on the Fix landline contact us page. Could you try phoning the 0330 number on there please? Once you're through, our technical support guides will do their best to find out what's causing the problem and help fix it.

Let me know if you have any problems getting through.
