Re: Elderly/vulnerable customers without Broadband - Notification of new Digital Voice service

Thank you very much, that sounds brilliant. Now we just have to overcome when broadband or electricity isn't working when we have no mobile phone signal and need to make urgent calls

What you ARE NOT TELLING people here is you will leave vulnerable, elderly sick people on their landline without switching for the moment but you will NOT allow them to renew their contract so they go on to a rolling monthly plan costing £5 per month extra and can only be PAY AS YOU GO for the calls so are charged FOR EVERY MINUTE they are on a call.

This is an extremely UNFAIR way to treat elderly vulnerable people and a complete RIP OFF.  What difference would it make for you to allow them the same landline prices are everyone else until the Digital Switch is mandatory

Hi @lpscotty,

Welcome to the Community!

I'm disappointed to hear about what has happened here, and I can fully understand how upsetting this must be for you. I'd recommend making a complaint regarding what has happened, and the team will be bale to work with you to find a way forward.

It's an openreach decision not BT. I notice it's just a rant with no explanation why digital is not wanted, probably an easy solution but instead just a rant posted

It’s not a rant, why is it an improvement or free upgrade as they make out in their letters, people with any knowledge of telephony know this is BS.

VoIP is not as robust as a telephone exchange and associated batteries, it just being done to cut costs, de staff etc. If theres a nuclear war or power cut there will be no comms. Let’s put all our eggs in one basket to save money makes so much sense.

It’s slow to connect, also how is having to dial the dialling code in front of a local number an improvement .

FYI my Mum is very ill undergoing cancer treatment so currently (and for some time if treatment works) not able to copy with a digital switch. And before a further comment no there is no one but me to help her and I am busy with the hospital visits.  The information was to warm others of the cost involved in postponing and yes I am annoyed that my Mum financially suffers in the meantime in order to keep the landline but she is not fit to use a mobile before you mention that too.

Read the post the extra cost is staying on existing voice  and being charged extra to do so

The PSTN network is extremely old. Are you insisting you keep your tv from 30 years ago?
