Essential Voicemail with Digital Voice Problems

I have had BT FF for a couple of months now, using Digital Voice via my existing cordless DECT phone system and the analogue phone port on the Smart Hub 2, and the free "advanced" BT handset. I now want to try out the BT features for voicemail. I can dial 1571 with the new advanced handset (or my analogue phones) and access the voicemail menu. I have set up PIN, mobile number for sms notification and "short ringing period".

Problem 1. However, the BT voicemail does not cut in for calls received, and after an hour or 2, when I dial 1571 again, the ringing period has reset itself to medium. This has happened multiple times.

Problem 2. If I go to the myBT website and attempt to "manage voicemail", I get "Sorry, we can’t get your account details at the moment"

Suggestions for solutions welcome.

All seems to be working today. Crisis over, but the experience doesn't fill me with confidence about BT products. It isn't the first time I have had a similar experience.
