I’ve bought an Everyday telephone with basic call barring from Currys yesterday, and put in some stored numbers, yet the “phone book” button states it’s empty when pressed.
I then tried to put in the numbers again but it then says it’s a duplicate entry.

I had a similar problem trying to add a number to the Phone Book and getting a Duplicate Entry error message. The number that I was trying to add was not in the phone book or call list but I found it in the Call blocker > Black list. I don't know how it got there but deleting it from the Black list meant I could then add the number to my phone book without getting the duplicate entry error message.
