I have a BT8600 twin handset DECT phone which, having switched to DV, is connected to my router. The 2nd handset is upstairs in my home office. All worked OK until I switched to DV; now, it seems that the 2nd phone doesn't maintain its connection to the main base station. Everything seems OK - the base/handset says it's registered, etc. - until someone rings. First of all, the ringtone keeps breaking up and, if I answer the call, it doesn't connect and the main base station continues ringing.
Is this somehow caused by DV or just a coincidence this started happening when I switched? The phone is probably 8 years old.
It won't be caused directly by the switch to DV but may be due to moving the base station to a slightly different location.
You could try switching the handsets to see if the fault moves or stays in the same location. That will tell you if it’s the handset or a range issue. As the SH2 is also a DECT base station it could possibly be interfering with the 8600 base. Unfortunately it can’t be turned off if that is the case.
