Home Phone Only

Hi there,

I am just asking out of curiosity, does BT still provide a phone only service with digital voice?

The answer to this seems unclear, so just asking here directly.

If so, could anyone provide information on how this works, and how much it costs?

Thanks,
Ryan

Regards
Ryan

Re: Home Phone Only

If you find out how a phone only service in an all IP world is provided by BT , perhaps you can let everyone else know , but there is no price difference, a phone  only service is the same price on DV ( IP telephone ) as it is on  PSTN  ( assuming it’s available to order ) , for customers that don’t have broadband from anyone there is a discount given from the list price ( around £11-£15 ) which takes the phone only list price down from around £29 or £47   ( depending on wether included calls are required ) but the saving between a phone only service and a combination of broadband and line for regular ( not social tariff ) customers is pretty small  , so for example if a phone only service with included calls  is £47 minus the £11 no broadband discount  that’s around £36 , you can get broadband and phone  for a similar price , although that may not include any calls , if someone wanted a phone only service with PAYG calls , the price is around £18 or £19 but you have to call BT to get it , so BT can check you are not cheating by having broadband from another network like Virgin or an Alt Net like City Fibre , if you do have another broadband you don’t get the discount, but how it’s actually provided has never been confirmed ( to my knowledge ) by someone ordering it since the WLR ( PSTN ) stop sale .
