Microfilter or not? Digital Voice + Smart Hub 2

For Digital Voice on FTTC, with single-socket master socket and existing analogue phones plugged into Smart Hub 2, do I need a microfilter between the master socket and the SH2? The in-box instructions say you do, but could this just be assuming traditional non-DV voice line that needs to be separated, which isn't the case with DV as it's all being sent as TCP/IP traffic?

your existing rj11 modem cable will not fit the single outlet socket on a 1 socket master hence need for filter

you could change master to filtered type with 2 outlet socket and then connect SH2 direct to master
