Old 90s telephone

Hi there, All!

My name is Bob, I recently found an old 1992 BT Duet 100 telephone in a garage clear-out of my grandparents. The phone itself is of decent condition (considering age) and even has contacts of family members who are no longer with us stored. Wouldn't want to dump it for that reason.

When getting it home and putting it in the place of my modern BT Landline, I have found that while it can indeed receive incoming and make outgoing calls, the quality of the person on the other end, is very tinny and just about hearable.

We have attempted to clear the top speaker which has improved the quality to some extent, but not a lot. Short answer you have to apply pressure on your ear to the person on the line. Were phones of that time just like this, or is there clearly underlying speaker problem due to age?

Would really want to use this for however long those phones are compatible, so any help will be appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Bob Barnes

Re: Old 90s telephone

Hi @Bob741 and welcome to our community.

Thanks for posting about your BT Duet 100 telephone. As the phone is over 30 years old I would expect it wouldn't function fully. There is a volume control on the phone which I'm sure you've already tried but apart from BT DUET 20, 50, 60, 80, 100, 200, 210, 450. 450C, 500, 550, 600 and 700  TELEPHONES (britishtelephon... there isn't a lot of information available for this model now. I would recommend saving any contacts etc that might be on the phone just in case.

Cheers

David
