On our Advanced Digital Home Phone, we have lost external sound

we cannot now hear the phone ringtone when someone rings.  We cannot make a call using the hands free option, as we can hear nothing on the speaker.   no audible beep when message left on answerphone functionality (even though configured to alert).  All external sound lost!

Have checked settings; have re-set both hub and handset, but still not working.

Any ideas?

Have you considered that the handset has become faulty.

Its only 3 months old, but yes, that is certainly a possibility if this is not a common issue

Done!  Very helpful service (don't be put off by the texting malarky at the beginning) and replacement handset in the post tonight. Thanks for your advice.

Let us know if this resolves the issue. I hope for your sake to be proved wrong, but I'm always cynical about equipment replacements, which are cheaper and easier to resolve it seems than sorting things at BT's end! The other thing that happens with replacement equipment is that it resolves the issue because it's a 'default' set up, and your old equipment had been accidently set to 'don't work properly' mode!

I will do...  I did actually follow the whole reset process on the handset, but it did not resolve the problem
