Re: BT Smart Hub and fibre setup

Yes digital voice is supposed to be there. It is not. It does not work. The engineer clearly did nothing to this end. Today when he should have been here, I received a text to say digital voice is now active. Except it isn't. It doesn't work.

If the engineer had came when he was supposed to, maybe he could have ensured it was all working ? Like maybe an engineer should do ?

So now after a lengthy phone call with a nice lady....it seems a further adapter is needed. And now my landline does not work at all. So I have no landline, and no digital voice.

Great service BT. Should I have expected anything less ? Why is it so hard to get a job done right ?

When I log onto the BT Hub, it shows a picture of a phone, and it says not configured. Hybrid Connect, whatever that is, also says not configured.

So do I just need some plug in adapter for the Hub ? Is there something else needs done ? maybe if the engineer had set things up, there would be no mystery ?

Why does an engineer not come when requested, considering this was booked over a month ago and other dates refused ? Only my father, a vulnerable adult was at home. Which is not acceptable

Now last night after working at it, the fibre speed is now working on the network after I had turned off and removed the old BT Hub6.

Now if the engineer had been here today to tell me this needed to happen for it to all work correctly, that would have been helpful ?

So in terms of broadband, WiFi...now because he installed the new hub in a rather poor location, WiFi signal is pure trash in a lot of the house, as the hub is nowhere near central in the house anymore.

It cant even connect to my fathers internet radio in his bedroom

@StevieT678

Have you tried plugging your phone into the phone socket on the back of the Smart Hub 2, as that is where the phone line now appears?

The Digital Voice Adapter is only needed if a phone is nowhere near the Smart Hub 2.

Re: BT Smart Hub and fibre setup

Lets get a few facts straight here.

You do NOT need any adapter or DV phone unless you particularly want them.

The phone that currently is plugged into your analogue phone socket is simply unplugged and plugged into the phone socket at the rear of the hub instead.

There is nothing for the engineer to setup.

Have you rebooted the hub to see if that activates DV?

Have a read of the FAQ https://community.bt.com/t5/Home-phone-including-Digital/Digital-Voice-FAQs/td-p/2207485

Re: BT Smart Hub and fibre setup

I tried multiple times phone back and forward. It did not work. The BT lady on the phone said I needed an adapter.

If the BT engineer had set it all up when they called, and actually ensured things were working...then there would be none of this nonsense.

Ya know....is the engineer supposed to leave a job and hope it all works ?

And now today at random, it on the hub control page, it now shows a grey phone window, with the number present. And now the phone works.

So the BT lady lied, and as you say, it did not need another adapter. But it clearly needed something, whatever that was....it is now working.

Re: BT Smart Hub and fibre setup

DV simply needed activating by BT remotely. Until that was done, the engineer wouldn't have been able to do anything in any case.

Re: BT Smart Hub and fibre setup

If I'm reading this correctly you now have DV but the WiFi is poor to the new hub being in the wrong place in the house.

Move the new hub to the old location should fix or help the WiFi.
This might be why you need the adaptor for the phone so you can plug the phone into the adaptor rather than having it plugged into the hub.
