Reconnecting phone line

Go to solution

Hello I disconnected my BT line 20 years ago I might reconnect, Is it just a case of phoning BT and I pay a fee and they turn the line back on. Or would I need an engineer to come out and upgrade anything.

Thinking of getting broadband once its reconnected

Thanks

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services,the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

Mildenhall exchange:Only single order products are available and ADSL and ADSL2+ products are not shown as available.However for premises that can only be served by SOADSL, BT will continue to accept ADSL and ADSL2+ orders until SOADSL is available.

@BarryJ

Then you could get Fibre 2,  60-80Mbs connection speed.

You can have broadband, with or without a phone service.

Re: Reconnecting phone line

After 20 years , it’s possible but not likely that the line can simply be reactivated , chances are you  will be given an appointment date and told to be available during the appointment slot, if the line is intact, they may test remotely and advise you the line should be working, or you may see the installer.

AFAIK , it’s more likely that ordering both line and broadband with not attract an installation fee , whereas ordering a landline on its own (  intending to add broadband later) may , so if you intend to  both services anyway, it’s probably better to order both at the same time.
