Yesterday I was migrated to FTTP and DV. A really helpful engineer performed the migration and before leaving he ensured that the new Alexa phone and broadband were working.
After he had gone I plugged our existing BT Studio Plus 5500 phone/answer machine (base unit with 3 satellite handsets) in to the phone socket on the back of the Smart Hub 2.
BT’s website (Digital Voice: How do I set up my service? | BT Help) states:
“Remember, you can connect a phone directly to the phone port on the back of the Hub if you wish.”
My intention was to use our existing phones to provide at least one handset per floor (as per pre the migration). However, I am unable to get the handsets working either:
My question is what am I missing in route 1, and as I believe the 5500s are DECT devices why won’t they register on the SH2?
Any thoughts welcome.

your existing phone setup of studio plus 5500 should work when connected directly to the phone socket on the back of the SH2
did you unpair your existing 5500 dect phone from the studio plus base before trying to pair with the SH2?
Many thanks imjolly.
Encouraged by your response that I wasn't missing anything silly, I tried a different cable and hey presto it worked!!
