Howdy
Full Fibre & Digital Voice Consumer customer here. I know that BT offer a service to Business customers whereby they can select a specific number. So far my research is drawing a blank for a Consumer equivalent though for some reason.
Looking to get a number out of sentimentality more than anything, I live in the Exchange Area where the number was for, as far as I know it's available/unused. I just need a straight answer on whether this is possible and if it's not, why not since it's a service that's offered to Business users.
Ta in advance
This is not the same but it is very similar to your request

Maybe try BT business and see what they say

Hi @30BG
It's possible for consumer customers looking to change their landline number to request a renumber. Our Customer Service guides will be able to check if the desired number is currently available.
There is a charge for a renumber. (BT is charged by Openreach, which is passed on). You can find the latest Renumber charges on the BT Pricing homepage.
However, for Digital Voice it's currently not possible to choose a specific number. Any number change request would just be the next number available in the list.
It's still worth speaking to Customer Service though if this may change in the future.
