I have just got home after being away over the new year to find 8 new messages on my 1571 service. The majority of these appear to be the type of automated BT responses when you dial their business helpline or messages saying the number I called can not be connected. These are the types of message you get when you initiate the call so why they are being saved on my answer service I do not know. I, obviously, did not initiate these calls.
The quality of the message is very poor / crackly.
In one message I could hear the tones as if someone on the other end was pressing buttons on their keypad.
When looking at my billing there was a number dialled from my landline when I was away. Google did not come back with any hits for the number (prefix 01184)
There appears to be some BT openreach work taking place on my road. Could this have an impact? The messages and calls were made on 1st Jan 2023 so I assume there was no work going on but as I was away I can not be sure.

Sounds like you might have a crossed line or your line is in contact with another line in a wet joint, hence Openreach activity. If you dial 17070 do you get the correct number read back to you?
