The Digital Voice 2027 delay

So much for 2025.....and I removed about 6 corded landlines from around the house to keep things simpler. May be I should put some of them back then.

Anyway I can relax now until 207

"BT, which is also responsible for EE customers, has now abandoned the timeline of completing the national switchover by the end of 2025, and will instead aim to complete the move by the end of January 2027." (BBC today)

And I see in the new today BT fined £2.8m by Ofcom for not giving 1.7 million customers required contract information before they signed the contract with breaches still on going in some cases and 3 months to comply.

Best news I have heard so far this year. Good old UK keeping up the records of never getting anything done on time and sometimes if ever.

Re: The Digital Voice 2027 delay

So you don’t see the irony of Luddites such as yourself , continually complaining about DV and it’s impact eventually having a political effect , and the rollout timescale pushed out not to any procedural or technical difficulty, but political interference , it’s a little rich to complain that the rollout is happening too fast with no regard to the few that will be potentially be adversely affected, then change to whining about the timescale being changed  .

Notable:

As well as fining BT, we are also requiring it to:

  • identify and refund any affected customers who may have been charged for leaving before the end of their contract period, within five months of this decision;
  • within three months, contact the remaining affected customers who are still with BT and have not already been contacted, to offer them their contract information and/or the right to cancel their contract without charge; and
  • amend remaining sales processes that are still non-compliant to ensure that all customers receive the right information at the right time, in most cases within three months of this decision.[4]

Yes, perfectly reasonable to fine BT for the failings of two subsidiaries EE and Plusnet run as independent units .

Re: The Digital Voice 2027 delay

One of the risks of acquisitions is the liabilities you take on - you pay teams of lawyers a lot of money to do due diligence and I believe the report says the breaches are still going on.
