Want to use my own router but still need the digital voice phone line for parents

I was planning something like this but, I have a house phone that plugs into the smart hub 2 and was wondering if it would still work , even if the SH2 isn't directly connected to the ONT.Capture.PNG

To use digital voice the SH2 must be connected directly to the ONT.
