digital BT phone with an alex

I just got a digital bt phone with an alex how do I disable the answer phone?

The voicemail is a feature of the line not the phone.  Call BT and they will take the voicemail off for you.  Or if you have an online account for BT you can go into the "Your Products" section and manage your digital voice and will be able to turn the feature off

Many thanks for that didn't know voicemail was an answer phone.  I thought that was something to do with email.
