Re: Amazon echo devices

Hi, thanks for your response. As far as I can see there is no way to switch off the main normal WiFi network. Both of my Alexa devices are showing as connected to the new compatible WiFi network. I entered the new compatible WiFi password when connecting both Alexa devices, hence why they are both showing as connected. I was always able to connect the Alexa devices to the main WiFi network, it’s just that Alexa is unresponsive. My Echo Dot is 5th generation and is meant to be dual band so connecting to the compatible network shouldn’t be necessary.

It still doesn’t work so not sure what I am going to do now. Can’t waste any more time on it. It should have been a seamless switch over from my old to new broadband router. Thanks for your help anyway.

Re: Amazon echo devices

in my SH3 when I go to wifi settings I am able to turn off either 2.4 or 5ghz or both wifi channels leaving only compatible.  only difference in SH3 wifi is security is WPA3  but should be backwards compatible to WPA2 which was SH2

Re: Amazon echo devices

Hi there,

I have some interesting news. I just had a call from Amazon technical support and they told me to connect my Firestick to my personal hotspot on my iPhone, and when I did that Alexa started working on my Firestick for the first time since the problems started when I replaced my router 4 weeks ago. I haven’t tried it yet on my Echo Dot but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. So the problem is something to do with the configuration settings in my new BT Smart Hub 3 which is stopping Alexa from working. All my other devices work fine, it’s just Alexa which is being blocked.

I’m aware that you previously said to disable 2.4 and 5Ghz networks and only use on compatible Wi-Fi. I’ve already tried on compatible Wi-Fi and that didn’t work. Today I saw how to access the advanced settings of the hub which I didn’t know before. There are so many settings in the hub configuration manager I’m not sure which ones to change. Can anyone advise which settings I need to change in order to stop the router from blocking Alexa?

Any help gratefully appreciated.
