BT Hub Halo 100 - IP address

Go to solution

Recently had problems with broadband and then TV. Channels that were part of my package wouldn’t load then had random names for somebody else’s TV would appear. BT couldn’t find a problem at first and then at one point asked us to check out IP address with the 192.168.1.1. Check.  They said we where showing a different IP address at their side. How could this be possible ? So peoples internet activity -if underhand -‘could be mistakenly shown for ours ??? Is that correct ?

192.168.1.x addresses are private within your home. The Hub receives a different public address from an entirely different range from BT & that will change each time the connection drops. Your private addresses cannot be seen by anyone outside of your home network.
