BT complete wifi with fibre

I have recently had fibre installed and the wifi in the room where the router is is great.

I have two complete wifi discs but the speed drop off on the discs is really bad, drops from 2-300 Mbps in the room with the router to about 30 where the disc is .

Is that drop off to be expected and is there anything I can do about it? The second disc is in the next room but with 10m of the router...

Re: BT complete wifi with fibre

Using the speed test on the BT app I get 150Mb to the hub, which is what I'm paying for, and 32Mb to my laptop.  This is a large house and I'm only using one black disc, hub upstairs, disc and laptop downstairs, serving 2-3 computers, NowTV and two smartphones.  No problems at all.  Are you having problems or just asking about the speed dropoff?

Re: BT complete wifi with fibre

More the drop off, though I m worried about the speed from the discs as I stream all my tv content so it not unusual to be streaming content on two tvs with the kids playing online on their Xbox .

I live in a 30s semi, so I am guessing the WiFi doesn't like the brick walls and works better in more modern houses.

I am considering getting a mesh system in place of the discs if that would give me better speeds but I need to understand whether I would get the same or a similar result from a mesh system.

You won't know until you try. WiFi is by no means a precise science, there are too many factors that can affect it.
