Broadband Connection

I have been with BT for about 4 years and i work from a cabin in my garden and have had no connection issues, until recently!  BT are saying that my connection is fine, but it keeps dropping off.  Any ideas?!

Re: Broadband Connection

Which broadband package do you have? Connected using FTTC or FTTP(fibre to the home)?

Does the BT hub change colour from normal blue? How are you connecting in your cabin in garden ethernet cable or WiFi?

What have you already tried to sort the problem?

Re: Broadband Connection

Hi @Hannah44-

I'm going to assume that you are using WiFi, you are connecting to the router or a disc that is in the house, and it's this which is now beginning to become unreliable.

If you use a mesh disc with your router, you may need to try placing it as close to the cabin as you can get while staying inside the main property.  You may also need to consider if anything in the environment has changed, such as extra walls, appliances, even inflatable Santas (with electrically noisy pumps - fish tanks can be another good one if they're in line of site.

You also have to consider the WiFi "arms race" as more of your neighbours probably have better WiFi than they used to.  Sometimes the only solution is have ethernet cable running to the cabin/shed/outbuilding, and place an "access point" in there!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!
