Re: Changing name of connected devices

OK thanks....but I cannot see any reason to make that feature unavailable in the new hub

I am now with EE but had big problems with their hub (not allowing traffic through the ethernet ports) so they kindly sent me a BT hub which works fine....except for this issue

I'm sure I changed the name of devices through my new fibre hub since it arrived, I definitely did it on the old Smart Hub 2

I can do it through the EE App, but oddly the App is showing only one Ring device (and it was one of those I first changed through the app) but the desktop manager is showing two - camera/doorbell and chime

Re: Changing name of connected devices

Hi again, @davidwf15

I've had this double checked, and for the Smart Hub 2 it's the Hub Manager to change device names.

Our newer hubs are much better at correctly identifying what kind of device is being used, but if you wish to give it a custom name, this would be via the app instead.

Thank you

Some devices are correctly displayed, the ones I changed on the app still show incorrectly on the web page...

What I found is that if you change the device name in the app, it doesn't reflect that in the Hub Manager straight away. You have to exit the Hub Manager and sign back in again and refresh the 'My network' to see the new name(s). Once I did that, everything appeared as I wanted it too.

@davidwf15 Sometimes it can take a bit of time for the Hub Manager and app to communicate with each other and update.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend renaming one of the devices that hasn't updated to something else, then change it back to what you originally wanted.

Often this can force through the update.
