I am now the proud (?) possessor of a SH3 to replace my SH2 in readiness for an upgrade to FTTP.
In trying to configure the SH3 - and struggling with the built-in User Guide which never seems to work - I've come across two issues:-
1. While using the Hub Manager to do various things with Advanced Settings, from time to time it will try to go to a ..../AppInitScreen page. Given that the Hub Manager simply sits there with its 'bouncing balls', clearly that page is either inacessable or else it does not exist. Does anyone know please what its function is?
2. My existing set-up has the DHCP server turned off and all devices given fixed IPv4 addresses. The SH3 appears to recognise and list any PCs that I attach to the network, but not anything like a printer or NAS etc. So how do I add those devices to the Device list please?
1. No idea.
2.The device list is pointless in all BT hubs and bears no resemblance to reality. Why do you need to add any devices to a list that serves no purpose?
Well, with the SH2 at least there was the ability to say 'always use this address' so the Hub did not try to allocate a DHCP one instead
At the moment I have the situation that I have various PCs and printers configured with specific static IPs. That works on the SH2. But swop the sh3 for the Sh2 and turn on the various devices - the PCs appears on the list but not the printers
Do the printers still work?
Not yet.... 😞
Oh, and did anyone know that the 12V connection on the PSU for the SH3 is smaller than the previous BT models? So now you can't use a BBU Plus any more to keep your router going ...:-(
If your printer is not connected to your Smarthub 3 yet why would you expect it to show on the list of connected devices!
Connect it to your SH3 then look at the list of devices to see if it is there.
See message 3 - the printers ARE connected and switched-on, but do not appear in the list 🙂
The list is pointless.
Does the printer work or not, you have posted conflicting answers
